On reaching the spot, they found that the monkey and her young one had died. The foundation's Hitesh Bansod reached the spot with his team. The team members began performing rites and preparing to cremate the bodies. As soon as the team members picked up the bodies, a troop of monkeys arrived. Making noise, the troop advanced towards the team and surrounded them. They began lunging at the members who were trying to lift the bodies. Watching the group of monkeys, it appeared as though they were trying to carry both bodies away together. After considerable effort by the team, the monkey troop moved away from the road. The foundation then cremated both bodies. Rohit Kashyap, Suravir Singh and Saheb Ansari of the Hitjyoti Aadhar Foundation assisted in the task. According to folklore, if a monkey dies in an accident, fellow monkeys place the body near a termite mound in the forest, where termites consume it.
