Mira-Bhayandar Navratri event to raise Rs 50 lakh for drought-hit farmers through garba passes
Organisers of the Lotus Navratrotsav have launched a 'Buy A Pass, Be A Donor' drive, aiming to raise up to Rs 50 lakh for drought-affected farmers.
The popular Lotus Navratrotsav will be held in Mira-Bhayandar this year as it is every year, and organisers have tied it to a social cause. They have started a new initiative to help drought-hit farmers.
The initiative is called 'Buy A Pass, Be A Donor', meaning buy a garba pass and become a donor. Funds for farmers will be collected under it.
The festival gives city residents a chance to take part in a social cause along with entertainment. Those who buy a garba pass will not only be part of the celebrations; their contribution will also go towards helping drought-hit farmers.
Announcing the drive, BJP gat pramukh Hasmukh Gehlot said farmers across the state are going through great hardship because of the drought. He said it is important for every section of society to come forward and help, and that this was why it was decided to give people a chance to contribute through this year's Lotus Navratrotsav.
Gehlot said the 'Buy A Pass, Be A Donor' campaign aims to raise up to Rs 50 lakh for farmers. He appealed to citizens of Mira-Bhayandar, garba enthusiasts, traders, industrialists and social organisations to join the initiative in large numbers.
Navratri is not only a religious and cultural festival, he said, but also an effective way to express social unity, sensitivity and social responsibility. It is hoped that the initiative to help farmers through garba will send a new social message in Mira-Bhayandar.
The message of the campaign is clear: buy a pass, play garba and make your small contribution to helping farmers. All eyes are now on how Mira-Bhayandar responds to this year's Lotus Navratrotsav and how far the Rs 50 lakh target is met.
