On the Nashik-Agra highway, Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan climbed onto a wrecked truck to pull its driver free after a crash near Ojhar
A truck driver trapped in a severe crash on the Nashik-Agra highway survived because of the quick action of state minister Girish Mahajan. The accident occurred near Kokangaon Shivar close to Ojhar in Niphad taluka, and Nashik's guardian minister's promptness and sensitivity gave the driver a new lease of life.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 23, 2026, guardian minister Girish Mahajan was on a visit to Nashik district and his convoy was passing along the Mumbai-Agra highway. During this, a severe accident near Kokangaon close to Ojhar came into his view. A goods truck driver had lost control of the vehicle, causing a heavy collision in which the truck met with an accident.
The crash was so severe that the truck's cabin was completely crushed and the driver, in critical condition, was trapped among the mangled metal. Groaning in pain, the driver was hanging between life and death.
Realising the seriousness of the situation, guardian minister Girish Mahajan asked his convoy to stop immediately without a moment's delay. He got out of his vehicle himself and ran straight towards the crashed truck. On seeing the driver trapped in the cabin, bloodied and in critical condition, he climbed onto the truck himself, without regard for protocol, and began the rescue operation.
In this difficult moment, Legislative Council member Gokul Gite, who was present with the guardian minister, also immediately came forward to help. Minister Girish Mahajan and MLC Gokul Gite together used all their strength to clear the obstructions in the cabin. Working together and struggling hard, the two leaders pulled the injured driver out safely.
As soon as the driver was out, he was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. Doctors said the timely medical help and the guardian minister's quick action saved the driver's life.
Seeing a minister come forward to help without concern for his own safety, onlookers at the accident site had tears of joy in their eyes. People present at the scene praised Girish Mahajan's promptness and said such sensitivity is rarely seen among leaders.
