Mercury to rise 2-3 degrees Celsius over four days; yellow alert for six Konkan districts

Rain has taken a short break in Maharashtra, but the weather is now turning. The weather department expects the state's maximum temperature to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next four days. The Konkan belt will be hit hardest, with humidity along with the heat. Rain has also been forecast in some districts.
According to the four-day forecast, the maximum temperature in parts of Konkan could be between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius. With humidity rising along with the temperature, people will have to endure oppressive heat. Hot and humid weather is very likely in isolated areas of Konkan and Goa. The administration has appealed to people to take care of themselves.
Coastal areas will bear the brunt of the rising heat and humidity. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for hot and humid weather in Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
On October 3, the skies are likely to be mostly clear and the weather dry in Konkan-Goa, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada. Isolated places in Konkan will remain hot and humid. Vidarbha will also stay dry.
On October 4, South Konkan-Goa and South Central Maharashtra are very likely to be partly cloudy. North Konkan, North Central Maharashtra and Marathwada, in contrast, will see sunshine and dry weather.
The weather will change slightly on October 5. Light rain or thunderstorms are likely in districts of South Konkan-Goa and South Central Maharashtra. North Konkan and North Central Maharashtra will be partly cloudy, while Marathwada and Vidarbha will stay dry.
On October 6, isolated rain remains likely in parts of Konkan and Central Maharashtra. Marathwada and Vidarbha will be completely dry.
Region-wise, the weather is expected to be dry in Konkan, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha on October 3 and 4, with only isolated places in Konkan staying hot and humid. On October 5, Konkan will have hot, humid weather with isolated rain, and Central Maharashtra will see isolated rain. On October 6, isolated rain is likely in both Konkan and Central Maharashtra. Marathwada and Vidarbha will stay dry on all four days.
