Mercedes-Benz has launched the limited-edition Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro SUV in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 3.80 crore.
Mercedes-Benz has launched its limited-edition SUV, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro, in the Indian market at an ex-showroom price of Rs 3.80 crore. This special model in the G 63 range comes with new off-road technology for difficult terrain and equipment meant for long expeditions. The company has not yet specified how many units will come to India.
The SUV is powered by a 3,982cc handcrafted twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque. It also has an integrated starter generator as part of a 48V mild-hybrid system, which provides an additional 15 kW at low engine speeds. Power is sent to all four wheels through the AMG Performance 4MATIC system. Despite its off-road focus, the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds, with its top speed electronically limited to 240 kmph.
The Offroad Pro features a dedicated off-road cockpit. Its 12.3-inch display shows the vehicle's status, compass, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure, tyre temperature and differential lock information. Its Transparent Hood feature uses a camera to show the area in front of the front axle on the screen, making it easier to gauge the vehicle's position on rocky or difficult terrain.
The chassis features AMG Active Suspension, hydraulic roll stabilisation and adaptive damping. AMG Active Balance Control allows roll stiffness to be adjusted across three levels in off-road mode. AMG Traction Pro controls braking torque for each wheel individually in Rock and Sand modes. It offers 7 locking levels, which can be set according to different terrain.
For long expeditions, the SUV gets a roof luggage rack, a removable rear ladder and 20-inch AMG alloy wheels. Inside the cabin are Nappa leather upholstery, the MBUX NTG7 system, a 12.3-inch driver display and centre screen, wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and augmented-reality navigation. An 18-speaker Burmester 3D sound system delivers 760W of output.
For safety, it also comes with Active Brake Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and a 360-degree camera. The G 63 Offroad Pro thus combines powerful V8 performance with a strong focus on control over difficult terrain and equipment needed for long expeditions.
