Maruti reveals prices of CNG automatic Swift, Dzire and Baleno variants
Maruti Suzuki has released full variant-wise prices for the CNG automatic versions of the Swift, Dzire and Baleno.
Amid rising demand for CNG vehicles, Maruti Suzuki has officially released the full variant-wise price list for the CNG automatic, or AGS, models of three of its popular cars. Earlier the company had only announced starting prices, but now it is clear which variants of the Swift, Dzire and Baleno get the automatic gearbox and what they cost. All three cars get a company-fitted S-CNG system paired with a 5-speed AGS gearbox.
According to the new rate card, the Swift CNG Automatic starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs 7.92 lakh, the Dzire CNG Automatic at Rs 8.53 lakh and the Baleno CNG Automatic at Rs 8.32 lakh. The automatic option is not available across all CNG variants, but only on select ones.
In the Swift, the CNG automatic option is offered on three variants: VXi, VXi (O) and ZXi. The Swift VXi CNG AGS costs Rs 7.92 lakh, the Swift VXi (O) CNG AGS costs Rs 8.18 lakh and the Swift ZXi CNG AGS costs Rs 8.86 lakh. The CNG AGS version of the Swift costs Rs 35,000 more than its manual CNG variant. The ZXi is the top variant in the Swift CNG automatic lineup.
The Dzire sedan's CNG automatic lineup is more limited, available only in the VXi and ZXi variants. The Dzire VXi CNG AGS costs Rs 8.53 lakh and the Dzire ZXi CNG AGS costs Rs 9.54 lakh. Compared with the manual version, buyers will have to pay Rs 35,000 extra for the Dzire's CNG AGS variant. The CNG automatic option is not available on the Dzire's top variant, the ZXi+.
In the premium hatchback Baleno, the CNG automatic option is offered on the Delta and Zeta trims. The Baleno Delta CNG+ AGS costs Rs 8.32 lakh and the Baleno Zeta CNG+ AGS costs Rs 9.32 lakh. The CNG AGS model of the Baleno costs Rs 40,000 more than its manual version. The CNG option in the Baleno is limited to the Delta and Zeta variants only.
All three cars, the Swift, Dzire and Baleno, get Maruti Suzuki's 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine in their CNG automatic versions, running on the company's patented S-CNG technology. This engine is paired with the 5-speed AGS, or Auto Gear Shift, automatic gearbox.
The biggest change in this launch is in the transmission. Until now, buyers of the company-fitted CNG version of these cars had to make do with a manual gearbox only. But with the AGS option now available, buyers can also enjoy automatic driving in CNG cars.
The new price list also makes clear the price difference between the manual and automatic CNG versions. For the Swift and Dzire, the difference is Rs 35,000, while for the Baleno buyers will have to pay Rs 40,000 more. Customers specifically looking for a CNG car with automatic transmission now have three good options from Maruti Suzuki. However, since the AGS gearbox is available only on select variants, customers considering the top variant should confirm the options available at the showroom.
