A 25-year-old woman died in Latur on October 31 after drinking acid used for cleaning bathrooms at her home in Parli Vaijnath, and her husband has been booked on her father's complaint.

A 25-year-old married woman in Parli Vaijnath in Beed district drank acid used for cleaning bathrooms and later died during treatment in Latur. Her family has made serious allegations in the case.

The deceased has been identified as Devkanya Sunil Badne, 25. According to police, she lived in Siddheshwar Nagar in Parli Vaijnath; the area has also been mentioned as Siddharthnagar. Her husband, Sunil Suresh Badne, has been named as the accused.

Devkanya's father, Shrimant Pandhari Gitte, 55, a resident of Nandagaul in Parli Vaijnath taluka, filed the complaint with the police. Based on it, a case has been registered against the husband at Sambhajinagar police station.

Police said Devkanya was married to Sunil Badne in 2019. The couple's married life went well for a few years. It is then alleged that the husband began drinking, beating her and abusing her. Devkanya also learnt that her husband was in a relationship with another woman, and she told her family about it.

Relatives and family members then gathered and tried to counsel Sunil. According to the allegation, however, there was no improvement in his behaviour, and the mental and physical harassment from her husband only grew worse.

It is said that, fed up with this harassment and humiliation, Devkanya drank the bathroom cleaning acid at home. As her condition deteriorated from the poison, she was immediately admitted to a government hospital in Latur. She was undergoing treatment there but died on October 31.

On the father's complaint, a case has been registered against the accused husband, Sunil Badne, at Sambhajinagar police station under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Assistant Police Inspector Anmol Kedar is conducting a thorough further investigation.

The death of the young woman has cast a pall of grief over the Parli area.
