Marathi film Chikizhing releases first poster, hits theatres November 12
The Marathi film Chikizhing, a story of childhood dreams set against a hillstation, will release in theatres this Diwali on November 12.
In childhood, people find joy in small things: a coloured stone can seem like treasure, a wooden stick can become a magic wand, and the world behind a closed door can feel like a big dream. The upcoming Marathi film Chikizhing slowly tells this story of innocent childhood, dreams and stubbornness. The film's first poster has been released, along with the announcement that it will open to audiences this Diwali, on November 12.
The film is presented by Deepak Vani and Jayprakash Bhande. It has been made by A Themeteam Studio Production together with Keyframe Production. Supriya Bagate is the film's producer, while Shabbir Sabuwala, Rachna Vora, Rushikesh Deshmukh, Sid Vinchurkar, Karan Chavan and Unmesh Kulkarni are co-producers. The film is directed by Rajendra Bagate and Vaibhav Kulkarni. The story is set against the backdrop of a hillstation, with a sharp, dreamy and mischievous child growing up in poverty as its central character.
In the story, this child, named Chikya, goes with his mother every Saturday to a wealthy residential school and is left amazed by the grand world he sees there. The school's large iron gate always remains shut, but the unique world beyond it feels to him like a dream. His quiet pursuit of this dream forms the core of the story. His only friend is a scarecrow standing in a strawberry field, who keeps all his secrets. Talking to the scarecrow, collecting firewood with Tayadi, watching other children burst firecrackers from a distance during Diwali, and carefully keeping various things in his school bag, these small moments gradually open up Chikya's world.
But the question is why he does all these seemingly strange things. Is it just innocence, or is something else going on in his mind, what is he really thinking. Seeking answers to these questions, the film tries to entertain audiences while also making them think.
Chikizhing is not just a children's film, it is also worth watching for parents to sit down with their children. It is a light-hearted celebration of childhood, dreams, family and hope. In today's fast-paced life, the film offers a chance to look closely again at children's imagination and their small dreams, because every child carries a dream in their heart.
The film features actors including Prabhakar More, Krishnaraj Vaingade, Sejal Kore, Amruta Suresh and Dr Sonali Ghatnekar in key roles. Chikizhing will release in theatres this Diwali, on November 12, a story of a child's dream that will remind adults of their own childhood.
