Man hit on head with iron rod after asking car to move at Nagpur's Ramnagar Chowk; two arrested
Ambazari police have arrested two men for allegedly attacking Rahul with an iron rod after he asked them to move a car parked mid-road; a third accused is said to be absconding.
A quarrel over a car parked in the middle of the road at Ramnagar Chowk, under the Ambazari police station limits in Nagpur, turned violent. It is alleged that three youths attacked a man on the head with an iron rod after he asked them to move the car.
The injured man has been identified as Rahul. He has suffered a serious head injury. Ambazari police have arrested two accused in the case, while the third is said to be absconding.
According to police, Shivani Kanojia, 26, a resident of Gokulpeth, was returning home with her husband Rahul and their young child after visiting the Telankhedi temple.
When the family reached Ramnagar Chowk, a car was parked in the middle of the road. It is alleged that three youths were sitting in it. Rahul allegedly honked and asked them to move the vehicle to clear the way.
It is alleged that the three youths took offence and began abusing Rahul. The argument escalated. The accused then allegedly took an iron rod out of their car and struck Rahul on the head.
Rahul was seriously injured. It is alleged that the accused fled the spot after the attack. Police were informed, and the injured man was taken to hospital for treatment.
On the basis of a complaint, Ambazari police have arrested Prince Bhanu and Pushkar Sharma, residents of Golibar Chowk. Police said both accused were allegedly drunk at the time of the incident. Efforts are on to trace and arrest the third accused.
The incident has also raised concern among residents of the area. They say drunken youths allegedly create a nuisance at Ramnagar Chowk and nearby and obstruct traffic. Residents have also alleged that illegal hookah parlours operate in the area and have questioned whether full action is being taken against them.
Local residents have demanded strict action against anti-social elements and increased police patrolling in the Ramnagar Chowk area so that such incidents do not recur.
