An additional sessions court in Malegaon has convicted a man of stabbing a youth to death and sentenced him to life imprisonment. The verdict was delivered by Additional District and Sessions Judge D. Y. Gaud.

The main accused, Shaikh Rahim Shaikh Razzak alias Rahim Bhajiya, 35, was also fined Rs 2,000. If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to serve an additional one month of rigorous imprisonment. The second accused in the case, Shaikh Salim Shaikh Yakub alias Salim Chamda, was acquitted for lack of evidence.

The incident took place on April 21, 2021. Near Bhiku Chowk in the Kamalpura area, Rahim Bhajiya argued with Faisal Khan, brother of the complainant Imtiaz Khan Aman Ulla Khan, over an old dispute. As the argument escalated, Rahim Bhajiya, his brother Majid Bhajiya and his friend Salim Chamda surrounded Faisal Khan.

It is alleged that they stabbed Faisal in the abdomen with a sharp knife. Faisal's intestines spilled out and he collapsed, covered in blood. When the complainant and eyewitnesses ran to help, the accused lunged at them too. Bystanders tried to catch Rahim Bhajiya, but the accused fled.

Faisal was rushed to Noor Hospital and then taken to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

A case was registered at Malegaon City police station on the complaint of the deceased's brother. Police arrested the accused and filed a chargesheet in court. Accused Majid Bhajiya died during the trial.

The trial was held in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge D. Y. Gaud. Senior Additional Public Prosecutor Adv. Sanjay Kautikrao Sonawane for the prosecution had 10 key witnesses examined. Accepting his arguments and the evidence produced, the court convicted Rahim Bhajiya and sentenced him to life imprisonment. Court pairvi officer, police havaldar Mukund Pardeshi, put in special effort in the case.
