Two held in Nagpur for armed attack on woman at home, Rs 3 lakh demanded
Pardi police have arrested two men for entering a 25-year-old woman's home with a knife and a wooden stick and demanding Rs 3 lakh from her.
A woman was attacked at her home in Nagpur's Pardi police station area and asked to pay Rs 3 lakh, after two men entered the house.
The 25-year-old woman goes out to work in catering. The accused, Shekhar Verma, allegedly accused her of having an affair and threatened to tell her husband everything. He kept demanding Rs 3 lakh from her.
On September 29, the woman was alone at home while her husband was at work. Shekhar Verma arrived at the house with his associate, Lucky Rahate. Both were carrying a knife and a wooden stick. Shekhar allegedly brandished the knife at the woman and threatened to kill her, and his associate also threatened to kill her.
When the woman raised an alarm, people from the neighbourhood gathered, and both accused fled the spot.
On the woman's complaint, Pardi police registered a case against both accused under serious sections, including attempt to commit culpable homicide, and under the Arms Act. Both have been arrested, and police are investigating further.
