The retreating monsoon is on its way out of Maharashtra. Rain has stopped in many parts of the state, and October heat is being felt in most districts. Hot and dry weather is expected across the state on October 5. The sky will be clear in some places and lightly cloudy in others.

A yellow alert for heat has been issued for Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad and Ratnagiri districts in Konkan. Rain has been absent for the past few days, so temperatures have risen and people may have to put up with humidity. There is no alert for Sindhudurg district for now, though the weather there is likely to stay mostly dry. In most of Konkan, the maximum temperature is expected to be 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum about 22 degrees. The coming days are also likely to be hot and dry, so extra care is needed in the afternoon.

There is no weather warning for now in Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon and Nashik districts of North Maharashtra. Rain is unlikely for the next four to five days and the weather is expected to remain mostly dry. Daytime temperatures will rise and the heat of the sun may be felt. The maximum temperature in the region is likely to be about 31 degrees and the minimum about 20 degrees Celsius.

No alert has been issued for now in Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and Solapur districts of Western Maharashtra. The weather may be dry, hot and humid in most parts. However, light showers are possible in some places after two days. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 31 degrees and the minimum around 22 degrees Celsius.

Rain has also let up in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur and Dharashiv districts of Marathwada. There is no warning of heavy rain, and the weather is likely to be hot and dry. Many parts of Marathwada are feeling the shortage of rain, so farmers' worries may grow. The maximum temperature is likely to be about 31 degrees and the minimum 24 degrees Celsius.

Rain has also stopped in most districts of Vidarbha. There is no heavy rain warning for October 5, but a yellow alert has been issued for Gadchiroli district on October 6, where light to moderate showers may fall. The rain is unlikely to cover every place, and hot, humid weather may continue in most of Vidarbha. The maximum temperature is expected to be 33 degrees and the minimum about 22 degrees Celsius.

Overall, hot and dry weather is likely to prevail over rain in most parts of Maharashtra on October 5. In some places temperatures may reach 32 to 34 degrees. With the retreating monsoon going away and the October heat building, people are advised to avoid going out in the afternoon sun, drink plenty of water and take full care against the humidity.

The forecast for the next 10 days is as follows. On Tuesday, October 6, the maximum will be 34 and the minimum 26 degrees Celsius. On Wednesday, October 7, it will be 34 and 27 degrees, and on Thursday, October 8, 35 and 27 degrees. On Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10, the maximum is expected to be 36 and the minimum 27 degrees. On Sunday, October 11 and Monday, October 12, it will be 36 and 28 degrees. On Tuesday, October 13, it will be 35 and 26 degrees. On Wednesday, October 14 and Thursday, October 15, the maximum is expected to be 37 and the minimum 28 degrees Celsius.
