The state has taken a major decision affecting four districts. On the directions of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has ordered the administrative division of four districts for the convenience of the public.

Additional district collector offices will be set up in Baramati, Pandharpur, Dapoli and Nagpur Rural. Besides this, 47 new additional tehsil offices will be established across 21 districts of the state.

Meanwhile, the administration has approved the additional district collector office in Pandharpur. This new office will handle the administrative work of seven talukas: Pandharpur, Sangola, Mangalvedha, Madha, Malshiras, Karmala and Mohol. Until now, people in the Pandharpur area had to travel to the Solapur district headquarters for administrative work, meaning even the smallest task required a long journey out of their taluka to Solapur. This difficulty will now be resolved.

The decision has been taken keeping in mind the rising workload at government offices, the shortage of officers and staff, the geographical distance between talukas and districts, the growing population and rapid urbanisation, with the aim of bringing the administration closer to the people. According to an order from the revenue department, the new offices will let people access the various revenue services provided by the tehsil and district administration closer to home, services that until now had to be obtained by travelling to a distant district headquarters.

The separate administrative offices are expected to speed up local-level administrative work. The jurisdiction of the Solapur additional district collector office will now be limited to four talukas: North Solapur, South Solapur, Barshi and Akkalkot. In other words, once the new Pandharpur office is set up, the original Solapur additional district collector office will be left with only these four talukas, while the remaining seven talukas will be handled from Pandharpur. The appointment of the additional district collector and tehsildar for the new office will be made at the government level.
