Maharashtra on alert for rain, strong winds and lightning from Sept 27-29
The weather department has forecast isolated rain, strong winds and lightning across Maharashtra's four regions from September 27 to 29.
Even as the monsoon withdrawal was underway in Maharashtra, the weather department has issued an important alert for the next three days. It has warned of light rain along with strong winds in different parts of the state, and the administration has appealed to farmers and the public to take necessary precautions.
For September 27, the weather department has said isolated rain is likely in all four major regions of the state - Konkan, central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha. The biggest impact is expected in districts of central Maharashtra and Marathwada, where surface winds of 40 to 50 kmph are forecast. People, especially those driving vehicles, have been asked to stay alert because of the strong winds.
The same pattern of rain is expected to continue on September 28 and 29. On both these days, isolated rain is likely in Konkan and Vidarbha, while central Maharashtra and Marathwada will see further changes in weather. In these two regions, isolated rain along with thunder, lightning and strong squalls is expected. The administration has appealed to people to take shelter in a safe place during thunderstorms.
According to the region-wise forecast for September 27, isolated rain is likely in all four regions - Konkan, central Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha.
On September 28, isolated rain is likely in Konkan. Central Maharashtra and Marathwada may see isolated rain along with isolated thunder, lightning and strong squalls. Isolated rain is likely in Vidarbha.
The forecast for September 29 is much the same - isolated rain in Konkan, isolated rain with thunder, lightning and strong squalls in central Maharashtra and Marathwada, and isolated rain in Vidarbha.
