Kojagiri Purnima, which falls in the autumn season, is regarded in Indian culture as a festival of great joy and enthusiasm. This year the full moon is being observed on October 25.

According to religious belief, on this night the moon is complete with its sixteen phases and showers nectar on the earth. For this reason, there is a tradition of boiling milk in the moonlight under the open sky and drinking spiced milk. People also stay awake through the night.

The name Kojagiri comes from the Sanskrit phrase "Ko Jagarti?", meaning "Who is awake?" It is believed that on this night Goddess Lakshmi comes to earth and blesses her devotees with happiness and prosperity. The festival is celebrated with full devotion, with a view of the moon, new memories and fresh enthusiasm.

On this auspicious occasion, joy can be doubled by sending Marathi greeting messages to family, friends and loved ones. Some of the messages are given below in Hindi.
