Kia launches CNG Carens and Carens Clavis, priced from Rs 12.12 lakh
Kia India has announced prices for factory-fitted CNG variants of the Carens and Carens Clavis, starting at Rs 12,11,800 ex-showroom.
Kia India today announced the prices of the Carens CNG and Carens Clavis CNG. The company describes itself as a leading mass-premium automaker in the country. The ex-showroom price of the new factory-fitted CNG variants starts at Rs 12,11,800, or Rs 12.12 lakh.
According to the company, this strengthens its multi-powertrain portfolio and gives customers more options to suit their varied needs. The variants combine the utility of Kia's three-row vehicles with the convenience and economy of CNG.
Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Kia India, said, "India is a diverse market, where customers' travel needs differ. Our approach is to give customers the powertrain best suited to their lifestyle and use. CNG remains an important option for a growing number of customers looking for efficient and practical mobility solutions. By offering factory-fitted CNG options on the Carens and Carens Clavis, we are meeting this demand with a Kia-backed integrated product. Both models have carved out a strong position in space, comfort and family-centric utility, and the addition of CNG will increase their appeal and give customers greater freedom of choice."
The CNG system is fitted along with the vehicle, meaning there is no need to get a kit installed from outside. The company says this gives a reliable and easy experience in daily driving. It is designed for both daily commuting in the city and family outings.
The system has a 60-litre CNG tank, designed to suit the vehicle's existing powertrain and structure. The spare tyre is retained in the vehicle even after the CNG kit is fitted. Both models get this tank along with the petrol fuel system, giving a dual-fuel configuration.
Both models are based on the G1.5 6MT. They have the Smartstream G1.5 engine paired with a 6MT transmission, which delivers 96 PS of power and 123 Nm of torque in CNG mode. The engine has been calibrated for CNG and the suspension has also been modified. They come with R16 wheels and 16-inch front disc brakes.
The instrument cluster has distance-to-empty (DTE) logic for CNG mode. There is also a CNG fuel change switch and a 4.2-inch colour TFT MID. In both models, the third-row seat-back frame has been modified, which improves the recline angle and gives rear passengers more comfort on journeys.
