The Karnataka all-rounder broke Anshu Nagar's record when Delhi Capitals bought her at the WPL 2027 auction in Kochi on October 28.
Karnataka all-rounder Uma Kashvi made history at the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2027 auction, held in Kochi on October 28.
Uma is just 15. Delhi Capitals (DC) bought her for Rs 10 lakh, making her the youngest player ever sold at a WPL auction.
She has broken the record of Anshu Nagar, who was also picked by Delhi Capitals at the WPL auction at the age of 15.
Uma, a resident of Karnataka, was selected for India's women's Under-19 team at 15. She bats right-handed and also bowls off-spin. She made her debut for the Under-19 side against Sri Lanka.
So far she has played two ODIs and three T20s. She has taken four wickets in the three T20s and two in the two ODIs. She is currently part of the Karnataka Under-19 team.
At the age of 12, Uma scored a double century in a junior club-level inter-school tournament. Her performances have made her a strong contender for a place in the Indian squad for the 2027 ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup, to be held in Bangladesh and Nepal.
She has also made her mark in domestic cricket. A video of her went viral on social media recently, from the women's Under-19 T20 Trophy match against Vidarbha. While she was fielding on the boundary, a monkey ran towards her and she fell to the ground.
Her performance on the field in that match was just as impressive. Karnataka Under-19 won by six runs and Uma was named player of the match. She bowled superbly, taking three wickets for 18 runs in four overs.
Uma was born on April 9, 2011. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, the youngest player sold at an IPL auction, was born on March 27, 2011, which makes Uma only 12 days younger than him.
