Joint land survey completed in 129 of 409 villages along Shaktipeeth Expressway in 13 districts
Land acquisition for the Maharashtra Shaktipeeth Expressway project has gathered pace. Joint land measurement is under way in 13 districts along the route. So far, measurement has been completed in 100 per cent of 129 villages. It was possible because farmers cooperated with the revenue machinery, it has been said.
The expressway will connect Vidarbha, Marathwada, Western Maharashtra and the Konkan. Its total length between Pawnar (Wardha district) and Patradevi (Sindhudurg district) is proposed at 856.765 km. The state government published the notification of the route's revised alignment on May 5, 2026. The administrative machinery has since stepped up the work, and the measurement is being carried out according to this revised alignment.
District collector administrations are conducting joint measurement in 409 villages across 40 talukas. It has been completed in 129 of them and partly completed in 15. In the remaining 265 villages, talks with farmers on the joint measurement are continuing. Joint land measurement is considered an important step in land acquisition, and the district collector machinery is carrying it out. The expressway is considered important from the religious, tourism and industrial points of view.
Measurement is under way in Wardha, Yavatmal, Nanded, Hingoli, Parbhani, Beed, Latur, Dharashiv, Solapur, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Sindhudurg districts. In Vidarbha, measurement has been done in 20 villages in two talukas of Wardha district and 70 villages in six talukas of Yavatmal district.
In Marathwada, it has been completed in 11 villages in one taluka of Nanded district. It has been completed in 40 villages in three talukas of Hingoli, six villages in two talukas of Parbhani and eight villages in two talukas of Beed. In three talukas of Latur, four villages have been measured and eight partly. In one taluka of Dharashiv, eight villages have been measured and five partly. In the districts of Western Maharashtra, talks with farmers on the joint measurement are continuing.
To win farmers' trust, the corporation's machinery and the district collector level are holding talks. For public awareness and dialogue, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) held the first phase of the "Shaktipeeth Samvad Yatra" in Wardha district. A workshop was also held at YASHADA in Pune to ensure coordination among the district collector administrations, the revenue machinery and the corporation on the joint land measurement.
