Job fair at 16 centres across Mumbai suburbs on September 29
Mumbai suburban district administration to hold a job fair at 16 locations on September 29 to connect job seekers with companies
The Mumbai suburban district administration has planned a job mega-fair to give local youth job opportunities in their own area. The fair will be held on September 29 at 16 different locations across the district on the same day. The administration's plan is to help youth find jobs as quickly as possible through this fair.
District Collector Saurabh Katiyar gave guidance on this at a meeting. He said the fair would bring job-seeking candidates and reputed companies from various sectors onto a single platform. The main objective is for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), various industrial groups and business establishments to get skilled manpower according to their needs. This will mean youth from the Mumbai suburbs will not have to travel far for jobs and will get opportunities close to home.
Free interview skills training camps were held at government Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) to prepare candidates who registered in advance for interviews. The first phase of this training was held from September 7 to 10, while the second phase was completed between September 21 and 24, 2026. The training has boosted the confidence of the youth and helped them overcome difficulties they face in interviews.
The fair is not limited to a single sector. Companies and establishments from various service sectors including banking and financial services, information technology (IT) and digital services, transport and logistics, and retail will take part.
To benefit the maximum number of youth, the fairs have been spread across 16 locations in the Mumbai suburbs. These are Lalji Mehrotra Technical Institute in Jogeshwari East, AICMEU Private Industrial Training Institute in Mankhurd, Nav Samaj Mandal College in Vile Parle East, Sapio Analytics in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC), Navjeevan Polytechnic in Bhandup, Quastech and the government Industrial Training Institute in Borivali, Thakur Specialised Degree College in Kandivali, Atlas Skilltech University in Kurla, K. J. Somaiya Polytechnic in Vidyavihar, various industrial and vocational institutes in Andheri, Usha Mittal Institute of Technology in Santacruz, Chetana College in Bandra, and a women's college in Ghatkopar.
The Collector has directed that large-scale candidate registration and guidance camps be held to ensure maximum youth participation in the fair. All concerned government departments, educational and technical institutions, Industrial Training Institutes and business establishments have been urged to coordinate with each other to make the initiative a success. It is believed that this mega-fair will be a major step towards solving the problem of unemployment in the Mumbai suburbs.
