J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah marries journalist Nidhi Razdan, announces it on X

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has married senior journalist Nidhi Razdan. He announced it himself on social media.

On October 31, Abdullah shared a few photographs with Razdan on the social media platform X and announced his new life. Along with the pictures he wrote the caption, "A new journey began yesterday." He also tagged Razdan in the post. Razdan shared the photographs on her own social media as well, and her post is also drawing a strong response.

Razdan is a well-known journalist and news anchor. She worked at NDTV for several years and is known for her reporting on national politics and current affairs. She is in the news once again because of her marriage to Abdullah. Since the pictures surfaced, supporters, political leaders and well-wishers have been sending congratulations. The new beginning is much discussed in political and media circles.

The marriage is also being discussed in the context of Abdullah's first marriage. Omar Abdullah and Payal Abdullah were married in 1994. They have two sons, Zahir and Zamir. The couple had been living apart for several years.

The dispute over that marriage had reached the Supreme Court. On July 31, 2026, the Supreme Court, using the special powers granted under Article 142 of the Constitution of India, dissolved the marriage of Omar Abdullah and Payal Abdullah by mutual consent. Both sides had settled their differences and agreed to withdraw pending cases.

Abdullah has thus begun a new life three months after the divorce in July. As news of the decision by him and Razdan spread on social media, people are wishing them well.
