Jio launches Rs 15 pack with unlimited 5G data for a day, but a base plan is required

Reliance Jio has launched a pack that gives a full day of unlimited 5G data for just Rs 15. It is being described as the cheapest data pack in the country.

The pack can be useful when a large file has to be downloaded suddenly, when high-quality video is to be watched on a journey, or when a user's data has run out.

The pack costs Rs 15 and is valid for 24 hours. Once recharged, the user gets unlimited 5G data for the whole day. It is meant for people who need more data on a particular day, and can also be used as an add-on if the daily pack has been exhausted. It is a data-only pack and offers no calling or SMS benefit.

There are conditions. First, the user must have a 5G-enabled phone. On a 4G phone, 5G speeds will not be available and the phone will run at 4G speed.

Second, Jio's True 5G network must be available where the user lives. If there is no 5G tower there, the pack will not be of use.

Third, and most important, is the base plan. Under Jio's rules, a good base plan must already be active on the number to get unlimited 5G data, such as a recharge of Rs 349 or more that gives at least 2GB of data a day. The Rs 15 pack will work only with such a plan.

The pack can be recharged on the MyJio app, by going to the data or combo section and selecting it. Users can also go to Jio.com, enter their number and find the pack.

It can also be recharged at any nearby mobile recharge shop or Reliance Digital store, or through payment apps such as PhonePe, Google Pay and Paytm. Users should check before paying that their number is eligible for the pack, or the money may be wasted.

Those without a 5G phone or a base plan will not benefit, so users should read the conditions before recharging.
