The 10 November computer science exam for Jhelum students has been rescheduled to 30 November because of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz's planned visit to the district.

The examination schedule of students in Jhelum district has changed because of a planned visit by Pakistan's Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The computer science paper due on 10 November had to be cancelled at the last minute. It will now be held on 30 November.

Maryam Nawaz's visit was to cover the Jhelum and Pind Dadan Khan areas. A visit of that scale required tight security and administrative preparation in the district, which was a major challenge for the administration. In view of the situation, the Jhelum Deputy Commissioner wrote a special letter to the chairman of the Rawalpindi board.

The letter stated clearly that a large number of government officials, police and security personnel would be deployed for the Chief Minister's visit. If the exam were held on the same day, thousands of students would face great difficulty reaching their examination centres because of traffic jams, security problems and other administrative hurdles. So that students would not suffer and could sit the exam in comfort, the Deputy Commissioner strongly recommended cancelling or postponing the 10 November computer science exam.

The Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) acted on the recommendation at once and changed the schedule of the 2026 secondary part two annual examination. Board spokesperson Arsalan Cheema gave the full details of the change in conversation with the media.

Controller of Examinations Mubashir Saeed has issued the official notice of the new date. According to it, the computer science exam that was to be held on 10 November will now be held on 30 November. The morning-shift paper will be held in the morning, and the evening-shift paper will be held in the evening at the time already fixed. The biggest relief for students is that all examination centres announced earlier have been kept as they were. No one will have to go to a new centre.

The change has been limited to Jhelum district, so students elsewhere need not worry.

The postponement gives Jhelum students a full 20 extra days to prepare for computer science. Mubashir Saeed said the board will issue new roll number slips for the convenience of students and to avoid confusion.

Old slips already held by students will also be considered fully valid. If a student does not receive a new slip, or cannot get hold of it for a technical reason, they can still sit the exam on the old roll number slip. The administration's flexible approach has eased students' stress considerably. There is also some resentment among parents over the hardship that politicians' visits cause ordinary people, especially students.
