Maratha activist Manoj Jarange Patil said he would meet the family of a farmer found dead in a private finance company's office in Nanded and raise the issue with the government.
The body of a farmer was found in the office of a private finance company in Nanded, causing an uproar across the state. Maratha activist Manoj Jarange Patil reacted sharply to the incident.
Jarange Patil said he would visit the farmer's family. He also said he would raise the issue before the government with full force. On the occasion, he made an emotional appeal to farmers not to take the extreme step of ending their lives.
Jarange Patil became emotional while speaking of the hardships farmers face. He said one crisis follows another, but this drought too would pass. Farmers should therefore not take any dangerous step, he said. With folded hands, he said, "Do not commit suicide, I fall at your feet. Children suffer terribly."
The Krantikari Shetkari Sanghatana had vandalised the finance company's office. Jarange also commented on that incident. He said he would stand with the farmer's family with full strength. He also objected to the recovery methods of finance companies.
Jarange appealed that money should not be paid to the finance firms and that nobody in Maharashtra should repay. His statement has brought the issue of loan recovery back into discussion.
Jarange Patil also made serious allegations against the state government. He said some people from the Maratha community were being pushed forward to speak against him. He also said supporters of Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis were building a climate against him. Even so, he said he would not sit down to answer such criticism.
Speaking on future politics, Jarange Patil referred to the 2029 election. He said he would announce his stand on voting at the right time. He expects that four to five ministers from the Maratha community must be in power.
Jarange Patil also expressed regret that other communities get the support of ministers from their own communities in difficult times, but the Maratha community is not getting such support.
