Jalgaon: Man killed with stone in fight over Rs 800, accused had victim's teeth in bag

A dispute over Rs 800 turned deadly in Jalgaon's Bhadgaon area, with police finding the victim's broken teeth and two live pigeons in the accused's bag.

A dispute over just Rs 800 cost a young man his life in the Bhadgaon area of Jalgaon district. According to police, the deceased has been identified as Dharma Juga Pawar, while the accused is Juga Kantilal Pawar. The two were relatives and worked together going from village to village selling fake rudraksha beads.

According to initial information received by police, on the day of the incident Dharma Pawar had sold rudraksha beads worth Rs 800. Later, between around 7:30 pm and 8 pm, the two sat down to drink near Bhadgaon railway station. During this, an argument broke out between them over splitting the Rs 800 earned from the sale. It is said that as the fight escalated, Juga Pawar picked up a stone lying nearby and struck Dharma on the head and face. Dharma died in the attack.

After the killing, the accused fled and hid in a nearby field. Police heard dogs barking in the area and began searching in that direction, which led to the accused being caught. After taking him into custody, police searched his bag. According to police, the bag contained the deceased's broken teeth. Two live pigeons were also found in the bag. Bhadgaon police have taken the accused into custody and registered a case. Further investigation is under way.

In a separate incident, in Ghumaval village in Chopda taluka of Jalgaon district, initial information indicates that a 12 year old boy took his own life after his father stopped him from going to a Ganpati immersion procession. The boy studied in the sixth class. The incident is said to have taken place on the third floor of the family's house. Police reached the spot on receiving the news. Chopda police station has registered a case of accidental death, and further investigation is under way.
