Jaiprakash Power settles NARCL dues for Rs 511 crore, stock in focus Monday
JPVL has agreed to a Rs 511 crore full and final settlement with NARCL, but insolvency proceedings will end only once all conditions are met.
Investors are likely to watch Jaiprakash Power Ventures Limited (JPVL) shares on Monday, September 21, 2026. The company told stock exchanges that it has agreed to settle its ongoing dispute with the National Asset Reconstruction Company Limited (NARCL) for Rs 511 crore. The regulatory disclosure was made to the exchanges on September 19, 2026.
Jaiprakash Power Ventures and NARCL have agreed on a full and final settlement of Rs 511 crore. However, the announcement alone does not close the matter. The company must pay the Rs 511 crore, fulfil the remaining conditions of the settlement, and put definitive agreements in place.
The company has made clear that the proceedings under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) will be withdrawn only after all conditions are met. It will therefore be important to watch when the settlement conditions are fulfilled and when the company formally announces withdrawal of the IBC proceedings.
Jaiprakash Power Ventures had said on February 27, 2026, that insolvency proceedings had begun against it. About seven months later, the company and NARCL have opted for a settlement. According to the company's latest disclosure, the IBC proceedings will be withdrawn once all necessary conditions are fulfilled.
Jaiprakash Power Ventures has been in the news beyond the NARCL settlement as well. Adani Power signed an agreement in May 2026 to buy a 24 percent stake in JPVL held by Jaiprakash Associates. The deal for this 24 percent stake was set at about Rs 2,993.59 crore, to be paid in cash.
Adani Power has also signed an agreement to acquire Jaiprakash Associates' 180 MW thermal power project at Churk in Uttar Pradesh, along with related assets, for Rs 1,200 crore. These assets include Jaiprakash Associates' 11.49 percent stake in Prayagraj Power Generation Company Limited. Combined, the 24 percent JPVL stake and the Churk-related assets add up to a deal worth about Rs 4,193.59 crore.
Adani Power's overall deal is part of implementing the resolution plan approved for Jaiprakash Associates. The NCLT's Prayagraj bench approved the resolution plan on March 17, 2026. The NCLAT subsequently upheld the plan on May 4, 2026.
Jaiprakash Power Ventures shares closed at Rs 15.35 on the BSE at the end of trading on Friday, up 0.46 percent for the day. News of the Rs 511 crore NARCL settlement emerged after the market closed, so investors are likely to focus on the development in the next trading session.
Jaiprakash Power Ventures is primarily engaged in thermal and hydroelectric power generation. It is also involved in coal mining, sand mining and cement grinding. The company has three power projects with a combined capacity of 2,220 MW, a cement grinding unit with a capacity of 2 MTPA, and a coal mine with a capacity of 3.92 MTPA.
It would not be correct at this stage to assume that the Rs 511 crore settlement is fully complete. Fulfilling the stated conditions, implementing the definitive agreements, and the subsequent formal withdrawal of the IBC proceedings remain important steps ahead. A final view on the company's financial position should not be formed based on the settlement announcement alone.
