iQOO 16 launched in China with three 50MP rear cameras and 8,400mAh battery
Vivo sub-brand iQOO has launched the iQOO 16 flagship and the iQOO Pad Ultra in China, with the phone starting at CNY 5,999.
Vivo sub-brand iQOO has launched its new flagship smartphone, the iQOO 16, in China. The company has also introduced the iQOO Pad Ultra. The new devices will be available to buy on Vivo's website in three colours.
The iQOO 16 comes in four RAM and storage variants in China. The 12GB+256GB variant is priced at CNY 5,999, about Rs 86,000. The 12GB+512GB variant costs CNY 6,799, about Rs 97,000. The 16GB+512GB variant is priced at CNY 7,499, about Rs 1,07,000. The top 16GB+1TB variant costs CNY 8,499, about Rs 1,21,000.
Sales of the phone in China will begin in October on Vivo's online store. Buyers can choose from three colours: Chasing the Light, Legend and Racing Track.
The dual-SIM phone runs Vivo's new OriginOS 7, which is based on Android 17. The display is a 6.85-inch 2K (1,440 x 3,168 pixels) AMOLED panel using Samsung's M16 luminescent material, with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz. Pixel density is 508 ppi, it supports 1.07 billion colours and the touch sampling rate goes up to 5,000Hz. Peak brightness reaches 2,800 nits in HBM mode. The screen also has an AR anti-reflective film and LEAD display technology. The phone will carry IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
For performance, it has Qualcomm's 2nm octa-core Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme chipset, with a peak clock speed of up to 5.01GHz. It is paired with the company's own Q4 gaming chip, an Adreno GPU, up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. To keep the phone cool, it has a large vapour chamber cooling system with a heat-spreading area of 8,500 square millimetres.
At the back are three 50-megapixel sensors. The main camera is a 50-megapixel (f/1.68) unit with OIS support and a 1/1.3-inch sensor. The second is a 50-megapixel (f/2.65) periscope telephoto camera offering 100x digital zoom. The third is a 50-megapixel (f/2.05) ultra-wide camera. A 32-megapixel (f/2.2) camera handles selfies and video calls. The phone supports video recording up to 8K at 30fps.
The battery is 8,400mAh, with 100W wired and 40W wireless fast charging. Connectivity includes 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, a USB Type-C port, GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS and Galileo. The phone also has an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, a gyroscope and an ambient light sensor.
