The second T20 of the five-match series between India and New Zealand is being played today. The Indian cricket team is currently on a tour of New Zealand. India won the first match in a thrilling finish and took a 1-0 lead in the series.

In the first match, New Zealand set India a target of 226 runs. Aggressive innings from Naman Dhir and Sanju Samson helped India chase it down comfortably. Today's second match is also expected to be a close contest.

Captain Shreyas Iyer has a chance to set a major record in today's match. He has a golden opportunity to break a big record held by Rohit Sharma, India's successful former captain.

Shreyas Iyer's performance in the first few matches after he was handed the captaincy did not look as good. But he now appears to be in good form. He has the chance to claim the record for the most runs by an Indian T20 captain in a single calendar year.

The record currently belongs to former captain Rohit Sharma, who has scored the most T20 runs in a year as captain. If Iyer maintains his batting rhythm in this series, he can overtake Rohit Sharma's record and set a new one.

Since taking over the captaincy, Shreyas Iyer has played 22 international T20 matches. He has scored 632 runs in them, including one century and 2 half-centuries. If Iyer scores 25 or more runs in today's second T20 against New Zealand, he will become the highest run-scorer as an Indian T20I captain in a calendar year.

India's team is: Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer (captain), Tilak Varma, Nitish Reddy, Naman Dhir, Axar Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Yadav and Arshdeep Singh.

New Zealand's team includes Finn Allen, Tim Seifert, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Bevon Jacobs, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner (captain), Nathan Smith, Matt Henry, Adam Milne and Lockie Ferguson.

There is also speculation that Vaibhav Suryavanshi could be given a chance.
