India v West Indies third ODI at New Chandigarh on October 3: pitch and weather report
India, 2-0 up, will look to complete a clean sweep of the three-match ODI series against West Indies at New Chandigarh on October 3.
India and West Indies are playing a three-match ODI series. The third and final match will be played on October 3 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.
India have already won the series and lead 2-0. They will now aim to win the third match and clean sweep West Indies. Plenty of runs have been scored in both matches so far. The question is whether the pitch will again favour the batters in the third match or the bowlers will shine.
In the previous match, played in Guwahati, the two teams together scored more than 800 runs. The pitch at the New Chandigarh stadium is said to suit both batters and bowlers. Bowlers get help from the new ball in the Powerplay. Spinners benefit from the old ball, but batters also gain considerably from it.
This will be the first ODI international at the ground. Only IPL matches have been played here so far. It will therefore be important to see who dominates on the pitch.
On the weather, according to AccuWeather, the daytime temperature in New Chandigarh will rise to 36 degrees Celsius and fall to 22 degrees Celsius at night. There is no chance of rain. Wind speed will be 9 km/h, reaching 15 km/h at night. Rain is therefore very unlikely to interrupt the match. The match will be broadcast live on the Star Sports Network and can be streamed live on JioHotstar.
The second ODI was played in Guwahati. West Indies batted first and scored 405 for 7 in 50 overs. In reply, India made 406 for 2 in just 43.3 overs to win by eight wickets. India won the match comfortably while chasing a record score. Rohit Sharma scored a century and Shubman Gill a double century in the match. Big expectations will therefore rest on the Indian batters in the third match as well.
India's probable playing XI is: Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Aaqib Nabi and Gurnoor Brar.
