AIMIM state president and former MP Imtiaz Jaleel says the letter mentions a contract given to a youth from Ahilyanagar to kill him; police are investigating.

AIMIM state president and former MP Imtiaz Jaleel has received a letter threatening to kill him. The news has emerged at a time when the political atmosphere in the state is already heated.

The state has earlier seen the Santosh Deshmukh murder case, and Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) divisional chief Pradeep Purnekar was recently killed in a political murder. Against the backdrop of both incidents, the threat to Jaleel has caused a major stir.

According to the information available, Jaleel received the threatening letter a few days ago. After reading its contents, suspicion has been expressed that a plot to kill him is being hatched.

Jaleel said the letter mentions that a contract (supari) to eliminate him has been given to a youth from Ahilyanagar. He said the mention is in the letter.

Jaleel has handed the letter over to the police. Speaking about the matter, he said he had given the letter to the police and that an investigation was under way. The police are expected to verify the letter's authenticity, trace who sent it, and examine the basis on which the alleged contract was mentioned in it.

Speaking to the media after receiving the letter, Jaleel put forward his stand. He said, "Such threats keep coming often. I do not bow to them. I have given the threatening letter to the police. Now the police should inquire into the authenticity of this letter. The person who has been given the contract to kill me should be questioned."

The letter is now in police custody and the investigation is on. Jaleel has said the letter mentions a youth from Ahilyanagar. The police investigation is expected to establish the basis for that mention and who sent the letter. Until then, the threat is being discussed in the state's politics.
