The ICC is set to make a major announcement on next year's men's World Cup. On Thursday, October 1, 2026, it will release the schedule for the 2027 World Cup in Cape Town, South Africa. The tournament is being hosted in South Africa, and fans are eagerly awaiting it.

Next year the tournament will be played in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe. At the event in Cape Town on Thursday, the ICC will present the official schedule for the 2027 men's World Cup. Besides the fixtures and the names of the venues, the method of selling tickets for World Cup matches and the ticket prices will also be officially announced for cricket fans.

The World Cup will begin on October 2, 2027 and end on November 21, 2027. Over about a month and a half, the world's top teams will compete for the title in this great festival of cricket. A total of 14 teams will take part.

Preparations for the 2027 50-over One Day International World Cup have reached the final stage. Ten of the 14 teams will be decided on September 30, as the ICC has set September 30 as the cut-off date for direct qualification.

India are ranked No. 1 in the ICC's latest ODI rankings and will qualify comfortably. The other key teams are ranked as follows: New Zealand No. 2, Pakistan No. 4, Australia No. 5, England No. 6, Sri Lanka No. 7, Afghanistan No. 8 and Bangladesh No. 9.

Once the 10 teams are decided, qualifier matches among other countries will be played for the remaining four places. Notably, although Namibia is a co-host of the World Cup, it has not been given direct entry under ICC rules. It will have to come through the qualifiers to earn a place in the main tournament.
