Hyundai Bayon bookings open in India for token amount of Rs 11,000
Hyundai has started advance bookings for the Bayon SUV in India for a token amount of Rs 11,000, ahead of a festive season launch.
Hyundai Motor India Limited has opened bookings for its new SUV, the Bayon, in India. Customers can book the vehicle in advance by paying a token amount of just Rs 11,000. Bookings can be made at authorised Hyundai dealerships or through the company's online platform. The Bayon will be launched during the festive season, with full details on pricing, variants and delivery to be announced closer to launch.
On the engine front, the Bayon will offer a petrol engine with both manual and IVT gearbox options. The company has not yet officially released figures for engine capacity, power, torque and mileage, so it would be premature to say anything definitive about the SUV's performance at this stage. It is a 5-seater SUV that will be positioned above the Venue and below the Creta in Hyundai's current SUV lineup.
One of the most talked-about features of the car is its built-in generative AI voice assistant. According to Hyundai, the system will help occupants interact more naturally with the car through voice commands. Connected technology is also expected to allow control of infotainment and some vehicle functions.
On safety, the Bayon is built on Hyundai's enhanced global platform. For the Indian model, this platform places particular emphasis on structural strength and safety. It will come with 6 airbags as standard, along with several driver assist features including ADAS.
In terms of design, the Bayon features H-Edge LED DRLs, a sculpted bonnet, geometric wheel arches, wrap-around lower cladding and bridge-style roof rails. The car is about 4.2 metres long, making it larger than vehicles in the sub-4-metre SUV segment. The company has also focused on legroom, headroom and shoulder room inside the cabin. How practical the SUV proves for everyday family use and long-distance travel will only become clear after launch.
