Most parts of Maharashtra are currently hot and dry. The chance of rain is low across the state, but people are troubled by rising temperatures and humidity. According to the India Meteorological Department's forecast, most districts of the state are likely to stay dry on October 25.
A yellow alert for hot and humid weather has been issued for Palghar, Thane, Mumbai and Raigad districts in the Konkan division. The alert is for the next 48 hours, meaning people in these districts may find the humidity especially uncomfortable. The heat of the sun during the day and moisture in the air may cause heavy sweating.
In the same Konkan region, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts are expected to stay mostly dry. In some parts of Konkan, the maximum temperature may reach around 36 degrees Celsius. People have therefore been asked to take necessary precautions when going out in the sun.
Weather in North Maharashtra's Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar and Jalgaon districts will also remain mostly dry. A big drop in temperature is unlikely over the next four to five days. The maximum temperature in some areas may stay above 32 degrees Celsius, so the heat will be felt in the morning and afternoon.
Some parts of West Maharashtra received rain on Saturday. But on October 25, Pune, Ahilyanagar, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli and Solapur districts are expected to see mostly dry and warm weather. There is no major weather alert for these areas for now. The maximum temperature is likely to stay above 31 degrees Celsius, so people may have to bear the humidity.
The chance of rain is low in Marathwada's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded and Latur districts. The maximum temperature here is expected to be between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius. People may have to endure the sting of the sun even at the end of October.
In Vidarbha, most districts, including Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Gondia, are likely to stay dry. The maximum temperature here may go above 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to be around 21 degrees Celsius. It will be hot during the day, and with no rain, no major change in the weather is in sight for now.
Overall, most parts of the state are expected to be dry and hot on October 25. A yellow alert is in force for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad, so people there should take special care. Drink plenty of water through the day to avoid dehydration. If possible, avoid going out in the harsh afternoon sun. If you must, wear light clothes and use a cap or an umbrella. If the heat brings on weakness, dizziness or restlessness, rest.
Widespread rain is not expected in the state for now, and a warning of hot and humid weather is in place for four Konkan districts. People should keep track of the latest updates from the weather department.
