Huawei launches Mate 90 Pro Max in China with 200MP periscope camera and 6,800mAh battery
Huawei has launched the Mate 90 Pro Max 5G in China, priced from CNY 9,499, with a 200MP RYYB periscope telephoto camera.
Tech company Huawei has launched another 5G smartphone in China under its new flagship series. The phone is called the Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max. The company has designed it with a special focus on the camera and photography. It carries a 200MP RYYB periscope telephoto camera, which sets it apart from other phones. It has been launched in the premium segment.
The Mate 90 Pro Max starts at CNY 9,499, or about Rs 1.42 lakh. The 16GB+512GB variant is priced at CNY 9,999, or about Rs 1.43 lakh. The Collector's Edition 16GB+512GB variant costs CNY 10,999, or about Rs 1.58 lakh, and the 16GB+1TB variant is CNY 12,999, or about Rs 1.86 lakh. The phone comes in four colours: Rose Gold, Jade Green, Crystal White and Obsidian Black.
Prices for camera accessories have also been set. The Ruiying Z10 module camera costs CNY 5,999, or about 86,000. The full Pro Max camera kit costs CNY 19,499, or about Rs 2.80 lakh.
The phone has a 6.9-inch dual-layer OLED display with a resolution of 2848x1320 pixels. It supports a 1 to 120Hz LTPO refresh rate, 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming and local peak brightness of up to 12,000 nits. The display supports the BT.2020 colour gamut and is protected by Kunlun glass.
The battery is 6,800mAh, with support for 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The phone has the Kirin 9050 Pro chipset and up to 16GB of RAM. It runs HarmonyOS 7. It also offers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, e-SIM, Starlight E2.0 and an IP68/IP69 rating.
The phone has a triple rear camera setup. The 50MP primary camera has a 1/1.28-inch sensor, RYYB technology, OIS and a variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0. It is joined by a 40MP ultrawide camera and a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. The telephoto camera also has a 1/1.28-inch sensor, RYYB technology and OIS. The phone supports 4x optical zoom, 8x optical-quality zoom and 100x digital zoom. A third-generation Red Maple primary-colour camera is included for better colour reproduction.
The Huawei Ruiying Z10 module camera can also be fitted with the Collector's Edition. It has a 1-inch RYYB sensor, 10x continuous optical zoom, a 24-240mm focal range and an f/2.0-f/4.5 aperture. The phone also offers 4K video recording and a 13MP autofocus ultrawide selfie camera.
