The taste of chocolate and the crunch of a biscuit come together in chocolate biscuits made at home, and they are liked by everyone. The recipe is easy.

One advantage over shop-bought biscuits is that the quantity of ingredients can be adjusted to taste. The recipe can be tried for evening tea, for children's tiffin, or whenever a sudden craving for something sweet strikes. Small children will like it a lot. Once made, the biscuits can be kept for the whole week. Baking biscuits at home is not very difficult, and they can be made easily from ingredients already in the kitchen.

Ingredients: 1 cup refined flour (maida), 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, half a cup powdered sugar, half a cup butter, half a teaspoon baking powder, half a teaspoon vanilla essence, 2 to 3 tablespoons milk, 2 tablespoons chocolate chips and a pinch of salt.

First, sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and a pinch of salt together in a bowl. In another bowl, put the softened butter and powdered sugar and whisk until the mixture is light and soft. Add the vanilla essence and mix well.

Now add the sifted dry ingredients to the butter mixture a little at a time. Add milk as needed to make a soft dough. Do not knead the dough too much. Add the chocolate chips and mix gently. Then refrigerate the dough for 15 to 20 minutes, which makes it easier to shape the biscuits.

Preheat the oven to 170 to 180 degrees Celsius. Make small balls of dough, press them lightly to flatten, and arrange them on a baking tray with a little space between them. Bake for about 12 to 15 minutes. When the edges have set a little, take the tray out. The biscuits will feel slightly soft at first but turn crisp once they cool completely.

Once the biscuits are completely cool, store them in an airtight container. They can be served with tea, coffee or milk.
