Hardik Pandya may leave Mumbai Indians, Rohit or Tilak could be named captain: reports

Preparations for IPL 2027 have begun, and big news is said to be emerging from the Mumbai Indians camp. There is talk that the team's current captain, Hardik Pandya, may leave Mumbai Indians. This is only talk at present, and there is no firm confirmation.

Managements of different teams are said to be making several big changes in their squads, and the same is happening at Mumbai Indians. The team's performance last season was extremely disappointing. The management then took tough decisions and carried out major changes across the coaching staff. Now there is talk of the captain also leaving the team.

According to the talk and information available, the Mumbai Indians management is preparing to take a major decision on the captaincy for the coming season. It is said the management could make Rohit Sharma captain once again. On the other hand, Tilak Varma could be given a chance as a new face. That is, either Rohit Sharma or Tilak Varma could become the new Mumbai Indians captain, the talk goes.

Hardik Pandya captained the team last season. Mumbai Indians have not, for now, confirmed any official trade offer involving him. But if Pandya leaves the team or gives up the captaincy, the question will be who gets the reins. Mumbai Indians could hand the responsibility once again to the experienced Rohit Sharma, or place their faith in the young player Tilak Varma.

Going by the activity in the Mumbai Indians camp for some time, it appears the team has begun vigorous preparations for the 2027 season. In the coming days it remains to be seen what the management finally decides. For now everything is at the level of speculation, and the team has made no official announcement on the captaincy.

Overall, big upheaval appears likely at Mumbai Indians ahead of IPL 2027. Changes in the coaching staff have already been made, and all eyes are now on who will take the captain's seat.
