This is Gulveer's second consecutive Asian Games medal. He had earlier won bronze in the same 10,000m event at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, clocking 28 minutes 27.51 seconds at the time. With this silver, Gulveer Singh has become the first Indian runner to win a medal in the 10,000m event at two consecutive Asian Games.

Gulveer Singh's recent form has not been limited to the Asian Games. He also excelled at the 2026 Commonwealth Games. At the event held in Glasgow, Gulveer won silver in the men's 10,000m with a time of 27 minutes 49.78 seconds. Gulveer Singh first came to prominence at the 2022 Federation Cup, where he won bronze in the 10,000m race. That win brought him national recognition. He went on to win a medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. In 2024, Gulveer went to Colorado Springs in the United States for training, where his performance improved significantly under coach Scott Simmons. He went on to set several new records one after another.
