Dr Avinash Chandrashekhar Mendhe, from the small village of Kalimati in Gondia district, has now made a name across the world. He works as a research professor at the prestigious Korea University in South Korea. He has been included in the 2026 "World's Top 2% Scientists" list, published by Stanford University and Elsevier. His place on the list has raised the pride of Gondia district and the whole of Maharashtra.
According to information received from Gondia on October 16, 2026, Dr Mendhe has set a good example of how determination, perseverance and education can help a person overcome difficult circumstances in rural areas and reach great heights.
He was born in Kalimati, a very small village. He went to a municipal school and built his life through struggle in modest circumstances. During his schooling he lived with his uncle, Bhojraj Mendhe. Through his work he has shown that poverty may shape a person's circumstances, but it cannot decide how big his dreams should be.
Behind the many degrees after a successful person's name lies a great struggle. Dr Mendhe has made his mark globally through his research. His uncle and aunt's affection, sacrifice and guidance, his parents' blessings, his wife's support and his family's faith have contributed greatly to this success. He also received valuable support from his PhD guide at VNIT Nagpur, Babasaheb Sankpal, all his other teachers and his colleagues.
This global recognition is a matter of pride for Kalimati village and Gondia district. Seeing his success, countless students in rural areas will find the courage to dream big and fulfil those dreams. One need not be born in a big city to conquer the world. He has shown that any goal can be reached with a mind that dreams big, the determination to fight adversity and firm faith in education.
The son of Kalimati is now shining in the global scientific field. He is being warmly congratulated from all quarters for this extraordinary achievement, and good wishes are being expressed that his future research will continue to make valuable contributions to the progress of humankind.
