Gill's double century powers India to eight-wicket win over West Indies in Guwahati ODI, series 2-0
India won the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati by eight wickets to take the series 2-0, with captain Shubman Gill scoring a double century.
India beat West Indies by eight wickets in the second ODI played in Guwahati, taking a 2-0 lead and winning the series. Captain Shubman Gill scored a double century in the match.
After the toss, Gill chose to bowl first. West Indies batted first and posted a big total of 405 runs. India needed 406 to win.
John Campbell and Keacy Carty opened the West Indies innings. Carty was out for just 9. Campbell, the captain, and Shai Hope then scored fine centuries. Campbell was out for 101 and Hope for 104. Amir Jangoo also scored a hundred. Sherfane Rutherford failed to open his account. Campbell hit the Indian bowlers all around the ground, and the bowlers looked ineffective against the aggressive batting of the two.
In the first 30 overs, the West Indies batters did not let the Indian bowlers take many wickets. Three batters scored centuries. Prasidh Krishna took 1 wicket.
