Five new cars under Rs 5 lakh this Diwali, with automatic and CNG options
From the Maruti S-Presso to the Citroen C3X, five models are priced below Rs 5 lakh ex-showroom, some with AMT automatic or CNG variants.

With Diwali near and markets busy with festive shopping, buying a new car is a dream for many middle-class families. For buyers worried about their budget, there are five good options priced below Rs 5 lakh in the Indian market, ranging from small hatchbacks to slightly larger cars with striking designs.
The Maruti S-Presso starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs 3.50 lakh. All six of its variants can be bought within a Rs 5 lakh budget. An automatic gearbox is also available in this range: the VXi (O) AMT variant costs Rs 4.77 lakh.
It has a 1.0-litre petrol engine producing 68 PS of power and 89 Nm of torque, offered with a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. In the CNG model, the same engine produces 56 PS and 82 Nm in CNG mode, and comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Second is the Tata Tiago, regarded as a leader in safety. Its base variant, Smart, is available in this budget at an ex-showroom price of Rs 4.77 lakh.
The Tiago Smart has a 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 85 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque, linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Despite being the base variant, the company has not compromised on safety. It gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat mounts, along with a digital driver display and manual AC. The CNG and AMT options in the Tiago require a budget of more than Rs 5 lakh.
Third is the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10, considered a favourite of Indian families. Its prices start at Rs 3.70 lakh. Within Rs 5 lakh, buyers can choose from petrol, CNG and automatic variants.
For those looking for an automatic under Rs 5 lakh, the Alto K10 VXi (O) AMT, priced at Rs 4.97 lakh, is a key attraction. The Alto K10 also has a powerful 1-litre petrol engine.
Fourth is the Renault Kwid, two of whose variants fall within the Rs 5 lakh budget. Its SUV-like muscular look sets it apart from other small cars. It has a 1.0-litre petrol engine producing 68 PS of power and 93 Nm of torque, with a 5-speed manual and an AMT option.
The Evolution AMT variant, starting at Rs 4.90 lakh, is considered India's cheapest automatic car. The Evolution variant gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, besides a dual-speaker system and keyless entry.
Fifth is the Citroen C3X. Its entry-level Live variant can be bought at a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh.
This model has a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 82 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It comes with manual AC, a digital instrument cluster, front power windows, rear parking sensors and dual airbags.
