Nagpur: A major fire broke out at a tent and decoration shop in the Bada Tajbagh area around midnight, causing panic in the neighbourhood. The blaze was so intense that most of the goods stored in the shop were reduced to ashes. According to the fire department's initial estimate, the loss is around Rs 70 lakh. A short circuit is being cited as the primary cause of the fire. Residents were frightened by the outbreak of fire at that hour of the night, and confusion prevailed all around.

The shop belongs to Haji Mohammad Wakil in Bada Tajbagh. The incident took place around 12.11 am, when people noticed smoke coming out of the shop. Within a short time of the smoke appearing, the fire turned fierce.

On receiving information about the fire, a team from the Sakkardara fire station reached the spot and began firefighting. The firefighters brought the blaze under control after considerable effort. They are said to have had to work very hard to douse it. By then, however, a large part of the goods in the shop had been burnt.

According to the fire department's report, the initial estimate puts the loss at around Rs 70 lakh. This figure is not final and is based on the fire department's initial assessment. The preliminary inquiry has indicated that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit.

The incident has also been reported to the police. The exact cause of the fire and the final amount of the loss will become clear only after the investigation is complete. Until then, a short circuit is considered only the primary cause, and Rs 70 lakh is an initial estimate.
