A major fire broke out on Monday at a wire shop in the Lokhand Line area of Latur city. According to initial information, a short circuit caused a loud explosion in the shop, after which the fire spread rapidly. The fire was so intense that four to six nearby shops were also caught in it and burnt to ashes.

The incident caused panic in the area. Fire brigade vehicles reached the spot as soon as the news broke and began firefighting operations. An atmosphere of fear gripped local residents and shopkeepers. The exact cause of the fire is not yet clear, but it has caused heavy damage to the shops.

Local residents said welding work was underway in the shop, which may have caused the fire. It is also being estimated that the fire spread so quickly because the Lokhand Line area has a large number of steel shops. A large number of shops dealing in iron and steel are located in the area, which is believed to be the reason the fire spread quickly from one shop to another. Some people believe the fire may have been caused by petroleum-based chemicals stored in the shop, though this has not been confirmed and the actual cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot as soon as they were informed and made every effort to bring the fire under control. A large crowd gathered at the spot, in view of which the fire brigade and police sealed off the area so that relief and rescue work could proceed without hindrance. Police kept the crowd away from the area so that the fire brigade could continue firefighting work without obstruction.

The relief was that no one died in the fire. However, shops in the Lokhand Line area suffered large-scale damage. All the goods stored in the shops were burnt to ashes, causing heavy financial losses to local shopkeepers.
