Nagpur: Filth has piled up at the Eastern Sports Club in Vardhaman Nagar. Two days ago, members created a commotion after a cockroach was seen on a table while they were dining at the club.

Acting on their complaint, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) took action against the club on October 12. It issued the club a notice directing it to make improvements within 14 days.

Eastern Sports Club is a well-known name in the city. It was established about 40 years ago and is said to have around 1,200 members, among whom traders are in the majority.

For some time, traders have been deeply unhappy over cleanliness and arrangements at the club. They first complained to the club's management. When it took no steps, they complained to the FDA, on the basis of which an FDA team reached the club on October 12.

It is said that the FDA team, too, reprimanded club staff on seeing the filth. It issued the notice with the direction to make improvements within 14 days and warned of action otherwise.
