Men's cricket has begun at the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, but the Indian team is yet to play a single match in the tournament. This is because Team India secured a direct entry into the quarterfinals on the strength of its ICC ranking, meaning it did not have to go through the group stage.

India's opponent, on the other hand, was decided by the group stage results. Afghanistan sealed their quarterfinal spot by finishing on top of Group A. India and Afghanistan will now face each other in the quarterfinal.

The Indian team, led by Shreyas Iyer, is fully prepared for the Asian Games. This second quarterfinal between India and Afghanistan will be played on September 28 at Kohrogi Sports Park. All matches of the 2026 Asian Games are being broadcast on the Sony Sports Network. This second quarterfinal between India and Afghanistan can be watched on Sony Sports television channels.
