Engineering student among two held with MD drugs in Nagpur

Crime Branch Unit-6 in Nagpur has carried out a major crackdown against MD drug trafficking. Police arrested two accused who were roaming around to sell MD in the Pachpaoli police station area. One of the accused is said to be an engineering student. Police seized MD drugs worth about Rs 12,23,000, including 18 grams of the drug, from the accused. Police are searching for another accused who came up during questioning.

A Crime Branch Unit-6 team was patrolling in the early hours near the JCB company, Automotive Chowk and Sher-e-Punjab Lawns when police spotted two young men engaged in suspicious activity.

When police stopped and searched the two, they recovered 18 grams of MD powder kept for sale, valued at about Rs 90,000.

The arrested accused have been identified as Manoj Mohanlal Gupta, 30, a resident of Yashodhara Nagar, and Richard Pfedrix, 24, a resident of Kapil Nagar. According to police, Richard is an engineering student.

Police seized Rs 500 in cash, an Activa scooter worth Rs 80,000, two mobile phones worth Rs 52,000, and a Tata Nexon car worth about Rs 10 lakh from the accused.

During questioning, the accused told police that they had got the MD drugs from Lucky Sahu, a resident of Yashodhara Nagar. Police are now searching for Lucky Sahu.

The accused have been handed over to Pachpaoli police for further action under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Police are now trying to find out who else is involved in the MD drug supply chain. A large number of students are consuming MD, and many later start trafficking it themselves.
