India's electric scooter exports have surged in the first five months of FY2027. Between April and August 2026, a total of 15,418 electric scooters were shipped abroad, compared with just 2,807 in the same period last year, a jump of about 450 percent.

Rising demand for electric scooters within India has been matched by a strong response to made-in-India e-scooters in foreign markets. Rising petrol prices, a growing shift towards eco-friendly vehicles and developing infrastructure for electric vehicles have all helped push up exports. Nepal has emerged as a major market for Indian electric scooters, with India-made models gaining ground there rapidly.

TVS Motor Company leads the export tally. The company exported 6,702 electric scooters between April and August, including 5,738 iQube and 964 Orbiter units. TVS accounted for 44 percent of total electric scooter exports, the largest share among all companies.

Bajaj Auto exported 4,818 Chetak electric scooters, with its exports rising 2,194 percent compared with last year, the fastest growth rate among the companies. Ather Energy exported 3,573 scooters, taking a 23 percent share; its exports included the 450 series and Rizta models.

Together, TVS, Bajaj and Ather account for 98 percent of electric scooter exports, with all other companies making up just 2 percent. Greaves Electric Mobility exported 169 units, Hero MotoCorp 135, River Mobility 18 and Honda 3.

In August alone, 3,575 electric scooters were exported, up 209 percent from the same month last year. If the current pace continues, India's electric scooter exports could cross 35,000 units in FY2027.
