A robbery in broad daylight at the home of an elderly woman in Modern Mill Society, under the Belatarodi police station limits in Nagpur, has left residents fearful. Locals say they keep worrying about their own safety since the incident.

According to the information available, the accused entered the house of 60-year-old Usha Dharmik posing as delivery boys. They are said to have robbed her of her mangalsutra at knifepoint. Residents of the society are particularly worried because it all happened in broad daylight.

After the incident, Usha's son, with the help of neighbours, caught the accused, Sumedh Gajbhiye, and his accomplice Deepak Patil. Deepak is said to have slipped out of the crowd's grasp and escaped, while residents held on to Sumedh.

It has since emerged that Sumedh was beaten. Residents took him to Belatarodi police station. He died while police were taking him for a medical examination.

The robbery in broad daylight, the capture of the accused, the beating he is reported to have received and his death while being taken for a medical examination with the police have spread fear in the area.

Residents say the security arrangements in the area need to be strengthened further. They have demanded that police step up patrolling and also increase the presence of police personnel in the area.

Local residents have also raised questions about security in the area following the incident. They have demanded that the police administration take the necessary steps. Residents of Modern Mill Society are now watching to see what action the police take.
