Depositors of Shri Sant Bhagwan Baba Multistate Co-operative Credit Society staged a strong protest at the office of the Superintendent of Police in Ahilyanagar, after financial irregularities running into crores of rupees came to light at the society. Their main demand was that all those guilty and the remaining accused in the case be arrested immediately.

About 60 to 70 affected depositors from Shevgaon, Pathardi, Shrirampur and Ahilyanagar came together and began their agitation in front of the Superintendent of Police's office. The protesters demanded that all the accused be arrested and that depositors get justice. They were extremely angry that their hard-earned savings were stuck, and also expressed strong displeasure at the slow pace of work by the administration.

The protesters met Superintendent of Police Mumakka Sudarshan and submitted a memorandum of their demands. The memorandum said that the society's current chairperson, Mandakini Ranganath Vaidya, and chief executive officer, Jayshali Mayur Vaidya, should be arrested at once and strict legal action taken against them.

The protesters also made a sensational claim. According to them, a loan of a full Rs 30 crore from the society has been shown in the name of Vaishali Yogesh Gaikwad, sister of Jayshali Vaidya. The memorandum demanded a fair and thorough investigation into this suspicious transaction and immediate cases against those found guilty.

Seeing the intensity of the protest, Shirish Deshmukh, the investigating officer of the Economic Offences Wing, spoke to the protesters. He gave firm assurance that the remaining accused in the case would be traced and arrested as soon as possible and that legal action would move quickly. Following this assurance from the investigating officer, the depositors withdrew their agitation for now.

The agitation has ended, but all the depositors are now watching to see when the police assurance is fulfilled. The affected depositors hope that their hard-earned money is returned safely and that the guilty are severely punished.
