Dadar's historic Hindmata theatre reopens as HM Cinema, inaugurated by Ankush Chaudhari
The Hindmata theatre on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road in Dadar East has reopened in a modern avatar as HM Cinema, with actor Ankush Chaudhari inaugurating it.
Dadar in Mumbai is regarded as an important centre of the Marathi film industry and cultural life. The area now has a new entertainment destination for moviegoers. The historic Hindmata theatre in Dadar East has been given a new, modern look and reopened as 'HM Cinema'.
The theatre was inaugurated by Ankush Chaudhari, a popular actor in Marathi films. Several dignitaries from the film world, media representatives and many cinema lovers from the neighbourhood were present at the ceremony.
The historic theatre on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road in Dadar East had over time come to be known as 'Hindmata Gold'. HM Cinema has now opened on the same site, on the second floor of Kumar Fun Shop. The theatre has a state-of-the-art sound system, high-quality digital screens and comfortable seating, which should improve the experience of watching a film on the big screen.
Speaking at the inauguration, Chaudhari expressed happiness at Dadar's cultural and cinematic heritage. "Dadar is the heart of Mumbai's culture and love of cinema. First 'Hindmata', then 'Hindmata Gold' and now, in the modern form of 'HM Cinema', this fine theatre is ready again for audiences. I am sincerely delighted and proud," he said.
Chaudhari also expressed confidence that audiences today want good sound, visuals and a comfortable atmosphere in a theatre, and that HM Cinema would live up to those expectations. He also wished that films in all languages, including Marathi, receive abundant love from audiences.
HM Cinema owner Sanket Patil also spoke about the new venture. "Our main aim is to give audiences the best film experience. We are extremely proud to launch 'HM Cinema' in a central and historic area like Dadar, carrying forward the legacy that began with 'Hindmata'," he said.
Patil said special emphasis has been laid on modern technology, good screens and comfortable seating in the theatre. He also said it was an honour for him that this new journey began at the hands of Chaudhari. He appealed to all cinema lovers to visit HM Cinema and enjoy films.
With the reopening of the historic Hindmata as HM Cinema, cinema lovers in Dadar now have one more theatre to choose from. The effort is to offer audiences a better cinematic experience through modern facilities and a comfortable atmosphere. HM Cinema is expected to become a new attraction for film lovers in Dadar.
