A traffic and power block will begin on October 1 on Platforms 14 and 15 and stabling line 15 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), which is being redeveloped. The block will last a full 75 days, until December 15.

The block will affect the timetables of long-distance trains. The railway administration has appealed to passengers to plan their journeys carefully.

The railway has explained the reason for the work. Modernisation of the CSMT station is moving quickly. A similar block was taken earlier on Platforms 16 and 17. In the next phase of the project, foundation work and other technical and heavy work will be carried out on Platforms 14 and 15. To keep the work safe and of good quality, it has been decided to shut rail traffic on these platforms completely.

During the 75 days, some select long-distance mail and express trains to and from CSMT will not reach their scheduled terminus, CSMT. They will be stopped short. Passengers will have to take a local train or other transport to reach the main hub of Mumbai.

The trains that will terminate at Dadar are the Nandigram Express (1102), Howrah-CSMT Express (12810), Amravati-CSMT Express (12112), Konark Express (11020), Tejas Express (22120) and Bidar-CSMT Express (22144). The train that will terminate at Thane is the Mangaluru-CSMT Express (12134).

All eight trains will end their journey at Dadar or Thane instead of their scheduled terminus.

The block will remain in force till December 15. During this period, passengers arriving from outside Mumbai or from other cities will not be able to reach CSMT directly. The Central Railway administration has requested passengers to redo their travel schedules and to get the information in advance to avoid inconvenience.
