Cracks in new flats at Korpana MHADA housing project, resident complains
A flat owner at the Yashodhan Vihar MHADA project in Korpana has demanded an independent technical probe after cracks appeared in his new flat.
The construction quality of flats at the Yashodhan Vihar (MHADA) project in Korpana has come under question. Flat owner Dnyaneshwar Gokhare has complained to MHADA's Nagpur division that cracks appeared in his flat's construction soon after he bought it. He has demanded an independent technical investigation into the matter and action against those responsible, as per rules, if any fault is found.
Gokhare bought flat number 39/08 in the project on 28 July 2025 for Rs 10,26,790. According to his complaint, cracks appeared in the flat's construction a short time after the purchase. He has claimed that residents of some other flats in the same project have also reported similar cracks. Gokhare has said a technical investigation should establish whether these cracks are limited to the plaster or are linked to the core structure of the building.
The complaint demands an independent inspection of the project's RCC work. It calls for a check on whether concrete cube samples were taken during construction, and whether records of their identification, date, location and related quality control were maintained. It also demands that cube test reports, concrete mix design, slump test reports, material test reports, structural drawings and reports of physical inspections carried out by MHADA's engineers be examined.
The complaint also seeks an independent investigation by a qualified structural engineer to determine the exact cause of the cracks. Gokhare has said that instead of only carrying out surface repairs, the root cause of the cracks should be identified and permanent solutions implemented. It also demands a check on records of any previous repairs, complaints from flat owners, and the action taken by the project developer on those complaints.
The main demand in the complaint is that an independent team of senior MHADA officials and engineers physically inspect the Yashodhan Vihar project. It demands that a technical panchnama or inspection report be prepared for the flats where cracks have appeared, and that the quality of concrete and other construction material be tested at an authorised laboratory if required. Gokhare has demanded that if violations of rules or substandard work are found in the construction, action be taken as per rules against the project developer, contractor or other responsible persons concerned, and that immediate measures be taken for the safety of flat owners if the construction is found to be unsafe.
"It is a serious matter that cracks have appeared within a short time in a home bought by saving every rupee with great effort. So instead of just carrying out minor repairs, a thorough technical investigation should be done keeping in mind both the quality of construction and the safety of flat owners," flat owner Dnyaneshwar Gokhare has demanded.
